[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics has launched a certified pre-owned smartphone program in India, offering refurbished Galaxy devices at lower prices to expand access to premium products.
Since May 6, the company has been selling refurbished flagship and mid-range models through its website and Samsung Shop app. These devices undergo Samsung’s in-house refurbishment process and come with the same one-year warranty as new products, while maintaining the company’s quality and security standards.
The move comes as rising component costs—driven in part by increased demand for AI-related semiconductors—push up smartphone prices. In price-sensitive markets like India, demand for more affordable premium options is expected to grow.
Samsung already operates similar programs in several countries, including South Korea, the U.S., and major European markets.
