Kakao Labor Union to Stage First-Ever Strike Since Founding

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] The labor union of Kakao is set to stage its first-ever strike since the company’s founding.

According to the IT industry on June 9, the Kakao union plans a partial strike on June 10, lasting approximately five hours from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The union will also hold a rally near Kakao’s headquarters in Pangyo.

The strike comes as labor and management have failed to narrow differences over wage negotiations and collective bargaining agreements. The union is expected to focus on demands related to improvements in the compensation system.

In response, Kakao stated that it has prepared contingency measures to maintain service stability during the strike.
