[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SEOUL, June 12 — Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, will visit South Korea on June 14 to meet executives from major tech companies including Samsung Electronics, Naver, and Kakao.
According to industry sources, Altman will participate in a “DX Insight Talk” at Samsung Electronics’ Suwon campus on June 15, followed by meetings with senior executives including Vice Chairman Jun Young-hyun and President Roh Tae-moon.
The visit comes as Samsung accelerates its company-wide AI transformation, allowing employees to utilize generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini Enterprise, and Claude to drive innovation in workflows and corporate culture.
Altman is also scheduled to visit Kakao’s Pangyo headquarters to meet CEO Chung Shin-a and discuss expanding AI partnerships. The two companies formed a strategic alliance last year.
He will then travel to Seongnam to visit Naver’s “1784” headquarters, where discussions are expected to focus on potential infrastructure and technology collaboration, though details remain at an early stage.
Altman is expected to depart Korea on the evening of June 15 after completing his schedule.
