[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Hong Ra-hee, Honorary Director of the Leeum Museum of Art, plans to sell 15 million Samsung Electronics shares to fund inheritance tax payments and repay loans.

According to the Financial Supervisory Service’s electronic disclosure system, Hong signed a securities disposal trust agreement with Shinhan Bank on January 9. The sale period extends until June 30, with the disposal value based on the closing price on January 16 (KRW 148,900 per share) estimated at approximately 2.2335 trillion KRW.

This sale is seen as the final step for the Samsung family to secure funds for the inheritance tax owed following the passing of the late Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee. Since the inheritance process began in 2020, the family has made six installment payments totaling 12 trillion KRW over five years, with the final installment due in April this year.
