[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] An AK Group hotel has apologized to the families of victims of the Jeju Air tragedy for holding a year-end raffle event during the national mourning period. On January 4, Ko Jun, the new CEO of AK Holdings, visited the second floor of the Muan International Airport in Jeollanam-do, where the bereaved families were waiting, to personally apologize for the event.

Ko expressed, "I take full responsibility for this, and I deeply apologize." The hotel’s general manager and Jeju Air representatives were also present at the meeting. Ko further extended his condolences, stating, "I offer my deepest sympathy to the 179 victims and also my condolences to the two injured individuals."

He acknowledged that the year-end ceremony, which included the raffle and media coverage of the event, took place as part of a regular event but expressed regret over its timing. "I came here today with a heavy heart to apologize," he added.

Ko reassured that such an incident would not happen again in the future, stating, "If it does, I will take full responsibility. I am truly sorry."

The hotel, located in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province and owned by AK Group, faced criticism for holding the raffle and discussing performance bonuses during its year-end ceremony on December 31, just two days after the tragic incident.
