[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Hanwha Aerospace reported record annual results for 2025, but failed to meet market expectations in the fourth quarter, posting an earnings miss despite strong year-on-year growth.
The company said on Thursday that consolidated revenue for 2025 reached KRW 26.61 trillion, while operating profit totaled KRW 3.03 trillion, up 137% and 75%, respectively, from a year earlier. This marks the third consecutive year of record-high results, driven by robust growth in the land defense and aerospace businesses and the full-year consolidation of subsidiary Hanwha Ocean.
The land defense unit posted revenue of KRW 8.13 trillion, nearly doubling over the past two years, while operating profit surpassed KRW 2 trillion for the first time at KRW 2.01 trillion. The aerospace segment recorded revenue of KRW 2.51 trillion, extending its growth streak to a third straight year, supported by a surge in military orders. Improved productivity helped the division return to profitability, with operating profit of KRW 2.3 billion.
Hanwha Ocean, whose full 12-month performance was consolidated for the first time, posted revenue of KRW 12.69 trillion and operating profit of KRW 1.11 trillion.
However, fourth-quarter results fell short of expectations. Q4 revenue rose 73% year-on-year to KRW 8.33 trillion, but operating profit declined 16% to KRW 752.8 billion, missing market forecasts that had anticipated operating profit exceeding KRW 1 trillion.
The land defense business saw Q4 revenue of KRW 3.09 trillion and operating profit of KRW 616.0 billion, down 8% and 29% year-on-year, respectively, due to lower domestic and export volumes. By contrast, the aerospace segment delivered improved results, with revenue up 23% to KRW 729.3 billion and operating profit of KRW 7.6 billion, returning to the black on higher shipment volumes.
Market analysts said the results underscore both the strength of Hanwha Aerospace’s long-term growth trajectory and the short-term volatility tied to delivery timing and defense export cycles.
