Samsung Heir Jiho Lee to Begin Naval Officer Training

[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Seoul, South Korea – Jiho Lee, the eldest son of Samsung Electronics Chairman Jay Y. Lee, will enlist as a Navy officer candidate on September 15.



Born in 2000 in the United States, Lee has renounced his U.S. citizenship to fulfill his mandatory military service in Korea. After 11 weeks of training, he will be commissioned as a Navy ensign on December 1 and serve a total of 39 months, including training.



Samsung Electronics stated, “Jiho Lee voluntarily gave up his U.S. citizenship to fulfill his duty of national defense.”
