[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] South Korea’s defense company Hanwha Aerospace and game developer Krafton have agreed to cooperate on applying artificial intelligence (AI) to the defense industry.
The two companies signed an MOU to jointly develop physical AI technology—AI embedded in devices such as robots, drones, and autonomous vehicles that can perceive situations and act in real-world environments—and plan to establish a joint venture to commercialize the technology.
The partnership combines Krafton’s AI and virtual simulation capabilities, developed through global games such as PUBG: Battlegrounds, with Hanwha Aerospace’s defense and aerospace hardware expertise. The collaboration aims to support the development of next-generation autonomous defense systems.
Krafton will also participate as a major investor in a $1 billion global fund created by Hanwha Asset Management, which will invest in AI, robotics, and defense-related technologies.
