[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics experienced a temporary payment disruption on March 25 affecting its mobile payment service, Samsung Pay, causing inconvenience for users during the lunchtime peak.

According to industry sources, intermittent errors occurred in Samsung Pay transactions for approximately one hour starting around noon. The issue did not result in a complete service outage, with only some transactions affected. The disruption was not linked to any specific card issuer.

Samsung Electronics issued a notice at 12:40 p.m. stating that “Samsung Wallet payment services are currently experiencing instability” and that efforts were underway to restore normal operations as quickly as possible. The company later announced that the service had been fully restored at around 1:20 p.m.

Samsung Pay has experienced similar disruptions in the past. Last year, the service encountered three separate outages, with payment delays lasting up to approximately three and a half hours, leading to repeated user inconvenience.
