[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyundai WIA will supply UAM landing systems to Supernal, Hyundai Motor Group's U.S. independent urban air transportation (UAM) corporation.

Hyundai Wia signed a business agreement for ‘UAM landing system development’ with Supernal at the ‘Seoul International Aerospace and Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2023’ held at Seoul Airport in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province on the 18th.

The signing ceremony was attended by Jaewook Jeong, President of Hyundai Wia, and Jaewon Shin, President of Hyundai Motor Company and CEO of Supernal. Hyundai WIA will develop the UAM landing system and supply it to Supernal by 2028. We plan to build a ‘wheel-type landing system’ for prototype UAM and mass-produced UAM. The goal is to receive airworthiness certification from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in the second half of 2028.
