[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Seoul, September 15, 2025 — Samsung Electronics has released the first official photo of Lee Ji-ho (24), the eldest son of Samsung Group Chairman Lee Jae-yong, as he entered the Navy’s officer candidate program on September 15.

It marks the first time the Samsung Group has formally disclosed a photo of Lee Ji-ho. He reported for duty as a candidate of the Navy’s 139th Officer Candidate Class and will undergo 11 weeks of training before being commissioned as an ensign on December 1.

Ensign is the lowest of the three junior officer ranks. Including 11 weeks of training and the required 36-month service obligation after commissioning, Lee’s total military service will amount to 39 months.

His specific assignment and unit will be determined at the time of commissioning, based on training performance and personnel needs by specialty.

Born in 2000 in the United States, Lee once held dual citizenship in Korea and the U.S. However, he renounced his U.S. citizenship to fulfill his mandatory military service as a naval officer in Korea.
