[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The National Statistical Office has taken personnel action against two employees who were subject to prosecution investigation in relation to suspicions of 'statistical manipulation'.

The National Statistical Office recently issued an order to transfer two Grade 4 employees to the main office without any separate assignment.

The National Statistical Office explained that as the prosecution investigation began, it was determined that these employees were virtually unable to perform their duties.

Previously, the Board of Audit and Inspection requested the prosecution to investigate, claiming that the Blue House and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport exerted unfair influence on the compilation of statistics by the Korea Real Estate Board and manipulated housing price statistics, and the Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office began the investigation.
