[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] A virtual asset misdeposit incident occurred at Upbit, a domestic virtual asset exchange.

According to the virtual asset industry on the 25th, a coin disguised as a virtual asset APT was recognized as an APTOS and deposited into an Upbit account the previous day. The amount of mispayment is about 20 million won.

Incorrectly deposited virtual assets were virtual assets issued based on Apptos, but the accident occurred because Upbit failed to distinguish between real Apptos and virtual assets based on Apptos.

Upbit said on the previous day, "An abnormal deposit attempt was confirmed during the monitoring of Aptos deposits and withdrawals," and stopped depositing and withdrawing Aptos for a while.

Upbit is recovering its assets by contacting customers whose deposits have been misplaced and has recovered about two-thirds of its abnormal deposits.

An Upbeat official said, "We apologize for the inconvenience to the users."
