[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] A buyer has expressed intent to purchase President Lee Jae-myung’s apartment in Bundang, Seongnam, according to the presidential office.

Hong Ik-pyo, senior presidential secretary for political affairs, confirmed in a radio interview on July 3 that a buyer had come forward. Speaking on Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) radio, Hong said the property has not been fully sold yet, explaining that while no formal contract has been signed, a potential purchaser has indicated willingness to buy at the listed price, prompting the listing to be withdrawn.

The presidential office had announced on June 27 that Lee and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung jointly listed their 164-square-meter apartment in Yangji Village, Geumho 1 Complex, Sunae-dong, Bundang, for KRW 2.9 billion.

According to local real estate listings, comparable units in the complex are currently offered between KRW 2.95 billion and KRW 3.2 billion. Real estate agents said the KRW 2.9 billion asking price was closer to that of lower-floor units and considered below prevailing asking prices.

Hong noted that the apartment was listed at a price slightly below the highest transaction recorded about a year ago, adding that recent deals in the area have typically ranged between KRW 3.2 billion and KRW 3.3 billion.

Local brokers previously said the listing disappeared from a shared brokerage network about 30 minutes after it was posted on June 27, sparking speculation that a preliminary purchase agreement may have been reached.
