[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] Google's parent company Alphabet is making its largest-ever corporate acquisition to strengthen its position in the global cloud market. On the 14th (local time), The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources, that Alphabet is negotiating to acquire cybersecurity startup 'Wiz' for $230 billion (approximately 31.67 trillion Korean Won).

Alphabet plans to fund most of the acquisition amount in cash. Sources indicated that negotiations are nearing completion, and if the acquisition goes through, it would mark Alphabet's largest corporate acquisition since its $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility in 2012.

Wiz provides cloud-based cybersecurity software equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to detect and respond to cyber threats in real-time. Founded in 2020 by cybersecurity expert Asaf Rappaport, a former Microsoft executive from Israel, along with Israeli co-founders, Wiz has established itself as a significant player in the cybersecurity sector.
