[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] POSCO International announced on September 1 that it has signed a supply agreement with a North American company to deliver a total of 3 million drive motor cores.

With an estimated unit price of approximately KRW 200 billion per 1 million units, the total contract value is expected to exceed KRW 600 billion.

A POSCO International spokesperson said, “Details regarding the counterpart and specific terms of the contract cannot be disclosed due to confidentiality agreements.”

Drive motor cores, a key component for electric vehicles, typically use rare earth materials, which are heavily dependent on Chinese supply chains. To mitigate this risk, POSCO International is pursuing a de-China strategy by sourcing rare earths from countries such as the United States, Australia, and Vietnam.

The company also plans to strengthen its global EV value chain by expanding motor core production capacity in Poland and Mexico, thereby completing its international supply network.
