[Alpha Biz= Kim Sang Jin] A designer has alleged that Jisoo failed to return outfits loaned for a project, sparking controversy online.
Benjamin Bortmans, designer of Antwerp-based brand JUDASSIME, recently claimed via social media that Jisoo “literally took” his garments and did not return them. He said the items were sent to Korea and the United States for an album cover shoot and that more than six months have passed without a response.
Bortmans explained that the loan period was initially expected to last between one week and one month but was repeatedly delayed. He added that the items included three key pieces from a past collection, carrying both artistic and financial value.
“I provided contracts and invoices and attempted legal action, but received no reply,” he said, adding that he wants the items returned regardless of whether they were ultimately used in the shoot.
In a follow-up statement, Bortmans clarified that he did not intend to attack Jisoo personally, saying he mentioned her name only to prompt a response and that his sole goal is to recover the items.
Following the controversy, the designer said there has been some progress. “I was contacted by the U.S. side and was told that staff will be sent to Korea to resolve the issue,” he said, adding that designers involved in the project are expected to have their items returned. However, the reason for the delay has not been disclosed.
