[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Kiwoom Securities experienced a mobile app outage that temporarily prevented some investors from accessing its trading platform.
According to the financial investment industry on June 16, users of Kiwoom’s mobile trading app “Hero S#” began experiencing issues from around 6 a.m., with login screens freezing or error messages appearing, blocking access to accounts.
The disruption triggered complaints from investors across online communities, highlighting frustration over the inability to trade.
In response, Kiwoom Securities issued a notice stating that access to Hero S# was not functioning smoothly and advised users to utilize alternative platforms, including Hero 4, Hero SG, and Hero SF.
The issue was resolved before the opening of the Nextrade (NXT) pre-market session, restoring normal service.
The incident adds to a series of system reliability concerns at the brokerage. In April last year, Kiwoom experienced system errors for two consecutive days that delayed order executions on both its home trading system (HTS) and mobile trading system (MTS). In November, amid a sharp decline in U.S. stock markets, further delays occurred due to a mobile platform malfunction, drawing investor complaints.
