[Alpha Biz= Reporter Lee Joonhyun] Samsung Electronics is expected to deliver an earnings surprise in the fourth quarter, with operating profit projected to exceed KRW 20 trillion.
According to AlphaBiz on January 7, Samsung Electronics’ operating profit for the fourth quarter of 2025 is estimated at around KRW 21 trillion.
By business segment, the semiconductor division is expected to account for approximately KRW 18 trillion, representing the majority of the company’s fourth-quarter operating profit. The remaining KRW 3 trillion is believed to have been generated largely by the smartphone business, with additional contributions from home appliances and television operations.
Yoon Yong-pil, an adjunct professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, noted that while preliminary operating profit may reach KRW 21 trillion, adjustments could be made due to the company’s performance-based bonus payout system. He added, however, that even after such adjustments, an operating profit of roughly KRW 18 trillion from semiconductors alone would be a remarkable result.
Samsung Electronics is scheduled to announce its preliminary earnings for 2025 on January 8.
When contacted by Alpha Economy, Samsung Electronics declined to confirm the figures, stating that it was unable to provide confirmation.
