[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] Naver Pay announced on September 11 that it will acquire a 70% stake in Securities Plus Unlisted, Korea’s largest unlisted stock trading platform, for KRW 68.6 billion. With this acquisition, Naver Pay becomes the majority shareholder and secures management control.

As of August, Securities Plus Unlisted had 1.67 million cumulative users, 830,000 transactions, and a total trading volume of KRW 1.9 trillion. The platform has operated as an innovation financial service designated by the Financial Services Commission since 2020.

Going forward, Naver Pay and Securities Plus Unlisted plan to obtain a new “over-the-counter (OTC) brokerage” license once introduced by regulators. The companies aim to further invigorate Korea’s private equity trading market, enhance transparency of information on unlisted firms, and strengthen investor protection.
