[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] It is reported that Google will pay for generative artificial intelligence (AI) search services. According to FT on the 3rd (local time), Google is considering using certain AI-based search features only for users of 'premium plans'.

Currently, Google is operating to enable premium rate plan users to use its own generation AI, 'Jeminai AI Secretary' in Gmail and Docs. According to FT sources, Google executives have yet to make a final decision on whether or when to launch the new search service.

Google has been providing consumer service with only advertising funds. When the new feature becomes charged, Google charges 'search' for the first time since its establishment.

Generative AI from competitors such as Microsoft (MS) and Bing is rapidly developing. Microsoft is offering the OpenAI GPT model free of charge to Bing.

However, Google's existing search engine will be maintained free of charge. Advertisements that appear next to subscribers will continue to appear every time they search.
