[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] KIOXIA, a Japanese NAND flash company, has proposed to SK Hynix, an investor, to produce NAND using its NAND production facilities, according to foreign media reports. Analysts say that KIOXIA has pulled out an unconventional card to draw SK Hynix's consent to the merger with Western Digital (WD).

However, SK Hynix dismissed that it did not receive such a proposal from KIOXIA.

Reuters and other foreign media reported on the 19th that KIOXIA proposed SK Hynix to produce NAND memory at its production facilities in Japan.

Kwak also met with reporters at a regular meeting of the Korea Semiconductor Industry Association and confirmed that the merger of KIOXIA- Western Digital remains unchanged from last year's position.

However, SK Hynix denied foreign media reports that KIOXIA proposed a plan to utilize its production facilities, saying, "We have never received such an offer."
