[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Danal won all of the lawsuits related to music revenue in the past, including the first trial and appeal.
According to Danal on the 5th, the Supreme Court's Civil Affairs Department 1 upheld an appeal ruling that dismissed the hearing and ruled against the plaintiff in the appeal of a damage suit filed by Kim Kwang-soo against PocketDol Studio's general producer Danal on the 29th of last month.
In August 2020, Kim filed a lawsuit for damages of about 2 billion won against Danal for infringement of his rights, claiming that he has the rights to major music sources of artists such as SG Wannabe, CIYA, and M2M. At the time of the lawsuit, Danal stressed that he had a legitimate right to music revenue, and rather suffered a loss of more than 5.4 billion won due to Kim in 2008, and the amount of damage was not compensated.
In the first trial sentenced in April last year, the court said the plaintiff had no right to make profits from the music, citing testimonies that the plaintiff (Kim) was not included as a party to the music sales agency contract, that there was no objective data to prove that he had spent direct expenses for the album production, and that he had not paid Kim any profits from each album in the case.
