[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] NAVER has denied any hacking incident following reports that personal data of approximately 730,000 sellers on its Smart Store platform is being traded on the dark web. The leaked information reportedly includes names, contact details, birthdates, and business-related data such as store names and email addresses.

On June 17, NAVER stated that an internal investigation found no signs of unauthorized access or compromise of its user data systems. The company emphasized that, as an e-commerce intermediary, it is legally obligated to disclose certain seller information on its website in compliance with South Korean law.

NAVER believes that the leaked data may have been scraped by third parties from publicly available pages. To prevent such automated data collection, the company has implemented CAPTCHA verification and random string URLs for seller pages, and plans to further strengthen anti-crawling and access control measures.

NAVER also said it is closely cooperating with the Personal Information Protection Commission and the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to monitor the situation and ensure no damage occurs. As of now, no actual cases of harm related to the leaked seller information have been reported.
