Woo Tae-hee was appointed as the new CEO of Hyosung Heavy Industries

[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Hyosung Heavy Industries has appointed an industrial and trade expert as its new head. Hyosung Heavy Industries said on the 18th that it has appointed Woo Tae-hee, an in-house director, as its new CEO in charge of heavy industries and construction through a board meeting on the 16th.

Woo graduated from Yonsei University's Department of Public Administration (1984), received a master's degree in policy at Seoul National University (1989), a master's degree in economic policy at UC Berkeley (2000), and a Ph.D. from Kyung Hee University's Graduate School of Business (2011).

Since passing the 27th civil service exam (1983), the new CEO Woo has served as the Senior Presidential Secretary for Industrial Policy (2006-2007), the Commerce Counselor (2007-2009) at the Korean Embassy in the U.S., the director general of the trade and cooperation bureau, the chief of trade negotiations, the deputy trade minister and the second vice minister (2013-2017) at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

Since then, he has been a special professor at Yonsei University (2017-2020) and has been a full-time vice chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 2020.
