[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Sangjin] According to industry sources, the Gyeonggi Southern Provincial Police Agency's Industrial Technology Security Investigation Unit has initiated a full-scale investigation into suspicions of technology leakage between LS Cable & System and Daehan Cable.

On the 13th, it was reported that the police have filed a case against Gaeun Architectural Office for alleged violations of the Act on Prevention of Unfair Competition.

The architectural office had been responsible for the design of LS Cable & System's High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) cable factory from 2008 to 2022. Subsequently, the same office participated in the construction of Daehan Cable's Undersea Cable Plant 1, located in the Asan National Industrial Complex in Dangjin City, Chungnam Province, which commenced operation on the 3rd of last month. Police suspect that during the design process for Daehan Cable's facility, the architectural office may have leaked technology related to undersea cable that it had acquired while designing LS Cable & System's factory.

Police obtained information related to these suspicions in May and began the investigation recently after conducting initial inquiries. It is reported that search and seizure operations have been conducted at the architectural office and other relevant locations.
