[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The court accepted the suspension of execution filed against the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport by Dongbu Construction, an apartment construction company in the new town of Geomdan, where the underground parking lot collapsed.
According to the court on the 28th, the Seoul Administrative Court Administration Department 7 (Senior Judge Lee Ju-young) cited the suspension of Dongbu Engineering & Construction's business suspension against the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport the previous day.
Suspension of execution is a decision to temporarily suspend the effect of disposal if it is deemed that there is a risk of damage that is difficult to recover due to administrative disposition. The court's decision is expected to suspend the eight-month suspension issued by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to Dongbu Engineering & Construction.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport earlier imposed an eight-month suspension on five construction companies, including GS E&C, a construction company involved in the collapse of the underground parking lot of the Geomdan apartment on April 29 last year. According to the investigation at the time, more than half of the steel bars needed to withstand the load were missing in relation to parking lot columns.
Construction companies are not allowed to win new projects, such as signing contracts and participating in bidding, during the suspension period. Dongbu Construction filed an administrative lawsuit against it.
