[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Chey Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group, met with Mark Liu, Chairman of Taiwan's TSMC, the world's largest foundry (semiconductor contract manufacturer), to discuss cooperation plans in AI semiconductors.

According to SK on the 10th, Chairman Chey met with Chairman Liu and other key figures in Taiwan's IT industry at TSMC's headquarters in Taipei, Taiwan, on the 6th (local time).

Noh-Jung Kwak, President of SK Hynix, was also present at the meeting. SK Hynix supplies HBM to NVIDIA, and TSMC manufactures NVIDIA AI accelerators, including HBM.

SK Hynix plans to further enhance its collaboration with TSMC from the next generation of HBM (HBM4), succeeding the 5th generation HBM (HBM3). For performance improvement, SK Hynix will utilize TSMC's advanced logic process for the production of base dies in HBM4. SK Hynix aims to begin mass production of HBM4 starting in 2025.
