[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Minyoung] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 31st that it has demanded Kakao to submit plans for system improvements, including strengthening pre-testing, in response to the three recent incidents of KakaoTalk service disruptions that occurred just this month. They have also requested Kakao to submit corrective measures within three months.

The Ministry conducted inspections on the 21st and 23rd of the month to assess Kakao's telecommunications disaster management plan and reviewed the response and recovery status of the KakaoTalk service disruptions. From the 28th to the 30th, they convened the Telecommunications Disaster Management Review Committee to deliberate and resolve the corrective action demands for Kakao's shortcomings. The KakaoTalk disruptions occurred on the 13th (6 minutes), 20th (6 minutes), and 21st (54 minutes) of the month.

Minister Jeong Ho-young of the Ministry of Science and ICT emphasized, "Digital service disruptions that have a significant impact on people's lives should not recur." He further stated, "As digital service disruptions extend beyond inconvenience in people's daily lives to affect society and the economy as a whole, we will meticulously inspect the management systems of service providers to prevent recurrence."

He also stressed, "As Kakao has grown with the attention and support of the people, it is necessary for them to improve their organizational culture for disaster and disruption management and fulfill their responsibility to provide users with convenient and stable services."
