[Alpha Biz= Reporter Paul Lee] Hanwha Aerospace announced through a disclosure on the 9th that it has signed a main contract worth a total of 950.5 billion won with the Agency for Defense Development for the "Development of Next-Generation Launch Vehicles, Overall Supervision and Production." This comes just two months after being selected as the preferred negotiating partner in March.

The next-generation launch vehicle project is aimed at launching large satellites and space exploration missions for South Korea in the future. It is expected to significantly improve payload capacity and orbit injection performance compared to the Nuriho, which primarily launches into low Earth orbit. After development, a total of three launches are planned starting from 2030, with the ultimate goal of launching the final model of a lunar lander in 2032.
