[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Wage negotiations between Samsung Display's labor and management have broken down, prompting the union to prepare for the dispute.

According to the industry on the 16th, Samsung Display's open labor union and management negotiated the fifth wage and collective agreement on the 15th, but it finally broke down.

Labor and management, which have been negotiating five times since early last month, have failed to narrow their differences over issues such as wage hikes.

Initially, the union proposed 25 demands, including a 5% increase in basic wages, an expansion of paid leave, and a revision of the OPI standard.

The union, which declared a breakdown in negotiations, has decided to apply for mediation of labor disputes with the National Labor Relations Commission.

Earlier, the labor union of Samsung Display went on strike for the first time since its establishment in 2021 due to the breakdown of wage negotiations.
