[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Daum, a portal run by Kakao, will end its "Next Movie" service on Jan. 4 next year.

According to Kakao on the 21st, the next movie service, which began in 2000, will end in 24 years.

However, we decided to continue to provide movie information through portal search. It is a way to receive information from outside through KinoLights, an online video service (OTT) search company.

The industry believes that the service will be terminated to reduce costs as the next market influence in the portal market gradually decreases.

On May 15, Kakao separated the following into an in-house independent company (CIC) with the aim of giving independence to management and responding quickly to the market, but the situation is getting worse.
