[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] On September 2, Korean Air experienced delays in two of its flights due to issues with the door slide systems.

The first incident occurred at approximately 9:10 AM, when Korean Air flight KE755, an A220-300 aircraft, was preparing to depart from Incheon to Okinawa, Japan, with 71 passengers on board. After passengers had boarded, the aircraft door unexpectedly opened, causing the emergency evacuation slide to deploy.

Korean Air immediately returned the passengers to the terminal and swapped the aircraft for a B739 model. The flight eventually took off at 1:19 PM, and no injuries were reported. The airline is currently investigating the exact cause of the door malfunction, noting that it was not due to passenger error.

Later that afternoon, at around 2:15 PM, another Korean Air flight, KE017, bound for Los Angeles (LAX) and carrying 364 passengers, encountered a system alert indicating a problem with the door slide as it was preparing for departure at Incheon Airport.

In response, Korean Air quickly substituted the aircraft with another A380-800 model. The replacement flight is expected to depart approximately five hours later than scheduled, around 7:30 PM.
