[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Daewoo Engineering & Construction announced on the 30th, "We are in discussions regarding the conclusion of a contract to build a fertilizer plant in Turkmenistan," but "no specific details have been confirmed at this time."

On the same day, Daewoo Engineering & Construction responded to the Korea Exchange's request for inquiry disclosure on media reports that it is set to win a contract worth 3 trillion won in Turkmenistan.

Some media outlets earlier reported that Daewoo E&C will sign a 3 trillion won contract in Turkmenistan early next month to build a new Balkan element - ammonia fertilizer plant and a new Turkmenabat phosphate fertilizer plant.

In November last year, Daewoo Engineering & Construction signed a business agreement with Turkmenistan to build the fertilizer plant.

In July this year, economic delegations, including Turkmenistan's deputy prime minister for architecture and industry, visited Daewoo Engineering & Construction's headquarters and met with Chairman Chung Won-joo and President Baek Jung-wan, respectively.
