[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Telegram, which has been criticized as a hotspot for the creation and distribution of illegal deepfake content, has reportedly deleted all digital sexual crime videos that were urgently requested for removal by the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC).

On September 3, the KCSC announced that "Telegram has confirmed the deletion of all 25 digital sexual crime videos that were urgently requested for removal on the 1st, and expressed an intention to build a trust-based relationship with an apology."

Telegram's East Asia representative sent an official email to the KCSC stating, "We have recently become aware of media reports indicating difficulties that the Korean authorities are experiencing in handling illicit content on our platform."

Telegram expressed regret over the current situation and apologized for any misunderstandings that may have arisen between the platform and the KCSC.

Additionally, Telegram provided a new dedicated email address for communication with the KCSC, explaining that this will allow the KCSC to immediately confirm whether reported content has been deleted.
