[Apha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] Prosecutors conducted a raid on Shinhan Fund Partners and others over allegations of preferential redemption of the Lime Fund.

According to legal circles on the 8th, the joint investigation department for financial and securities crimes at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office sent prosecutors and investigators to Shinhan Fund Partners (formerly Shinhan Itas) in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, to secure various data related to the management of the Lime Fund.

Shinhan Fund Partners is known to have entrusted office management at the time of Lime Fund management.

The prosecution continues to focus on securing data by seizing and searching securities firms such as Mirae Asset Securities and Yuanta Securities on the 31st of last month.

Through the raid, the prosecution reportedly plans to investigate the facts and whether it is subject to judicial action over allegations that it provided preferential treatment to return investment to certain investors in the second half of 2019, just before the suspension of Lime's redemption.

Meanwhile, the Lime scandal is a case that caused fraudulent damage to thousands of investors worth 1 trillion won due to the suspension of the redemption of Lime, the nation's largest hedge fund, in October 2019.
