[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Kakao Mobility has decided to overhaul its taxi fee system.

Kakao Mobility said on the 2nd that it will hold an emergency meeting with taxi organizations to overhaul the taxi fee system.

Controversy over Kakao Mobility continues. Kakao Mobility's taxi app call market share is 93% as of 2021, which is virtually exclusive. As a result, the attention of politicians and authorities is focused and the burden is growing.

The Financial Supervisory Service is conducting an accounting investigation into Kakao Mobility over allegations of accounting fraud worth 300 billion won. The Fair Trade Commission sent a review report to Kakao Mobility last week saying it should impose a fine and file a complaint with the prosecution, judging Kakao Mobility's non-affiliated taxi "call blocking" as a violation of the Fair Trade Act. The FTC is also looking into a petition that Kakao Mobility is trying to steal the idea of cargo man, a cargo brokerage transportation platform, and launch a similar service. Previously, in February, a fine of 27.1 billion won was imposed on the suspicion of 'giving calls' to the affiliated taxis.
