[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics is planning to reduce its overseas workforce by up to 30% in certain divisions, according to a report by Reuters on September 11. Citing two sources, Reuters reported that the company has instructed its global subsidiaries to cut sales and marketing staff by around 15% and administrative staff by up to 30%.

The cuts are expected to be implemented by the end of this year and will affect jobs across the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

In response, Samsung Electronics stated, "The personnel adjustments at some overseas business locations are routine, aimed at improving efficiency," and added that there is no specific target for the cuts, which will not affect production staff.
