[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] A large chicken franchise has recalled chicken meat distributed by BBQ due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes, a foodborne pathogen. According to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) on the 9th, Charmfre, located in Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, manufactured the product, and Genesis BBQ, a distributor, found Listeria monocytogenes in their 'BBQ Boneless Barbecue Chicken'.

Listeria monocytogenes is a common foodborne pathogen that can cause symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea within 12 hours of ingestion. More severe symptoms like sepsis and meningitis can occur days to weeks later.

The MFDS classified the recall of this product as Grade 1, indicating a significant risk to human health due to consumption. The packaged unit is 620g, with a manufacturing date of June 17, 2024, and an expiration date of July 26, 2024.

The MFDS has advised sellers storing this product to cease sales immediately and urged consumers who have purchased it to return it to the designated recall locations.
