[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Gas has postponed the commercial operation of its dual-fuel gas combined-cycle power plant, which can use both liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). According to the energy industry on the 5th, the delay is intended to enhance safety through additional testing before full-scale operation.

SK Gas began construction of the Ulsan GPS gas combined-cycle power plant in Ulsan in March 2022, investing 1.4 trillion won. The plant has a generation capacity of 1.2 gigawatts (GW). Testing started in May, and if successful, it will become the world's first GW-class gas combined-cycle power plant, capable of generating enough electricity to power 2.8 million households for a year.
