[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] A former Samsung Electronics engineer who was sentenced to probation in the first trial for stealing Samsung Electronics' semiconductor technology was sentenced to prison in the second trial and arrested in court.

According to legal circles and multiple media on the 17th, the Seoul High Court's Criminal Affairs Department 7 (presiding judge Lee Kyu-hong) sentenced A (44) to one and a half years in prison and a fine of 10 million won on the 14th.

Earlier, the first trial court sentenced A to one and a half years in prison, suspended for two years and fined 10 million won. At that time, the prosecution appealed that A illegally acquired semiconductor ultrafine process technology, which could cause enormous damage to national security and the national economy, and used it for private purposes.

Meanwhile, A, who was in charge of semiconductor-related business at Samsung Electronics, is suspected of leaking 33 files including national core technologies and trade secrets related to the latest semiconductor ultrafine process to join Intel, a foreign competitor.
