[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] SEOUL – Kwangdong Pharmaceutical has once again secured the exclusive distribution rights for Jeju Samdasoo outside Jeju Island, marking its fourth consecutive contract with the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Development Corporation (JPDC).

On July 30, Kwangdong announced it had been selected as the preferred bidder in JPDC’s public tender for the “Jeju Samdasoo Off-Island Sales Agency.” The contract, following final negotiations, will run for four years from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2029, covering national distribution channels beyond Jeju. The deal is estimated to be worth ₩400 billion annually.

Kwangdong has managed Samdasoo’s off-island sales since 2012 and successfully renewed its role in 2017 and 2021. This latest win reinforces its reputation for reliable nationwide distribution and marketing, helping Samdasoo maintain its position as Korea’s leading bottled water with a 40.7% market share in Q1 2024.

This year’s tender saw intense competition — 11 companies including Dongwha Pharm and Pulmuone Foods submitted bids. The expanded scope now includes major hypermarkets, their affiliated supermarket chains (SSMs), and new retail channels.

Once the contract is finalized, Kwangdong will supply JPDC products across discount stores, convenience stores, supermarkets, Hanaro Mart, online platforms, and B2B networks nationwide — solidifying its role as Samdasoo’s long-term distribution partner.
