[Alpha Biz= Reporter Kim Jisun] Kakao announced that its "KakaoTalk Gift Service" had been fully restored following a system error that triggered emergency maintenance on the afternoon of the 12th. However, users continued to experience access issues.

In a statement on the KakaoTalk Gift Service notice board, Kakao stated, "All services, including payments, are now available."

The issues began around 11 a.m., with some users encountering payment errors and receiving a message saying, “The gift service payment system is currently under maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Kakao conducted emergency maintenance from 1:45 p.m. to 3 p.m. and announced that the service was fully operational again. However, reports of system errors persisted until at least 6:20 p.m., with users still seeing an apology message.

Kakao clarified that the errors were not caused by a Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack or any other form of cyber attack.
