"Robots are another new growth engine," Vice Chairman Han said at Samsung Electronics' Bespoke Life Media Day event held at Community House Masil in Jung-gu, Seoul. "We are taking a step forward."
"The robot business team is preparing a product called EX1 to be released this year," he said. "Many of them are being replaced by robots, and we plan to find new businesses and introduce products by focusing on our capabilities in the field of robots."
Samsung Electronics, which fosters robots as new growth engines, recently secured a 14.99% stake in robot developer Rainbow Robotics. In particular, it also signed a call option contract with Rainbow Robotics, opening up the possibility of acquiring the company in the future.
"It is true that companies use Chat GPT a lot and that it is becoming a trend," he said. "We will be able to actively use it."
In the wake of the global economic downturn, Samsung Electronics' household appliances division posted operating losses of 60 billion won in the fourth quarter of last year, the first loss in seven years.
In this regard, Vice Chairman Han said, "There may be many reasons for the deficit, such as increased logistics costs, increased raw material costs and reduced demand, but we are continuing to make improvement activities by using them as 'big lessons,'" adding, "We are trying to achieve good results within the first half of the year."
