[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, which is in the process of acquiring Hanwha Group, is seeking to turn into a surplus by winning two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers at the highest price ever.
Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. said on the 14th that it has won orders for two LNG carriers for $51,250 million (about 6,794 billion won) from Maran Gas Co., Greece's largest shipping company. Based on the 170,000-cubic-meter LNG carrier, it is the highest order ever ($ 200 million) per ship.
The company plans to build the ship at Okpo Shipyard in Geoje, South Gyeongsang Province, and deliver it to the shipowner in the first half of 2027.
