[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] Samsung Electronics' foundry (semiconductor consignment production) has recently expanded cooperation with domestic and foreign fabless companies and is increasing the number of high-tech process customers.

ADT, a South Korean semiconductor design house, signed a 3-nano semiconductor design contract with overseas customers on the 10th and announced that the semiconductor will be produced at Samsung Electronics' foundry.

The design house serves to provide optimized designs for foundry production of fabless designed products. ADT is Samsung Electronics' design solution partner (DSP). This is the first time that Samsung Electronics has announced that it will secure 3-nano customers with DSP.

Samsung Electronics is focusing on expanding its territory in high-tech processes by continuously announcing the attraction of new 4.5-nano customers this year. In February this year, the US Ambarella announced the production of semiconductors for 5-nano autonomous vehicles, and recently announced cooperation with Groc in the US, Tenstornt in Canada, and Liberion Korea regarding 4-nano artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors.

Samsung Electronics plans to further expand its technology development in high-tech processes under 3 nano.

Samsung Electronics explained that it is currently mass-producing GAA-based 3-nano first-generation (SF3E) with a stable yield, and the second-generation process (SF3) is also being developed without a hitch with the aim of mass production next year.
