LG Display Invests Over 2.2 Trillion KRW in Facilities, Plans Similar Investment This Year

[Alpha Biz= Kim Jisun] LG Display has made over 2.2 trillion KRW in facility investments last year and plans to invest a similar amount in the 2 trillion KRW range this year.


According to the business report disclosed on Wednesday, LG Display spent 2.2374 trillion KRW on research and development (R&D) costs last year. This continues the trend of maintaining over 2 trillion KRW in R&D spending for the third consecutive year, following 2.4316 trillion KRW in 2022 and 2.3995 trillion KRW in 2023.


The company stated, "We invested approximately 2.2 trillion KRW in facilities based on cash outflows to expand the production capacity of differentiated and competitive products such as OLEDs. We plan to continue similar investments this year."


Despite these investments, LG Display has faced consecutive operating losses of over 2 trillion KRW, with a loss of 2.085 trillion KRW in 2022 and 2.5101 trillion KRW in 2023. Last year, the company also posted an operating loss of 560.5 billion KRW.
