[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Paul Lee] The Financial Supervisory Service inspected financial affiliates such as Kakao Bank and Kakao Pay for service failures in connection with the KakaoTalk malfunction accident that broke out the previous day.
Major financial services such as remittances worked normally, but consumers reportedly suffered inconveniences as notifications of some financial services were not shared on KakaoTalk.
According to the financial sector on the 9th, KakaoTalk mobile and PC services, which were suddenly suspended in the afternoon of the previous day, were normalized again in 20 minutes. Kakao estimates network errors as the cause of the failure.
The Financial Supervisory Service also launched an inspection of Kakao Bank and Kakao Pay, judging that the risks of IT companies could lead to financial affiliates due to the nature of Big Tech.
As a result of the inspection, there was no failure in major financial services.
As it was a simple network error that temporarily occurred in KakaoTalk, it is believed that it did not lead to a financial affiliate problem.
Earlier last year, a fire broke out at Kakao's computer center, which disrupted not only KakaoTalk but also financial affiliates' remittance and payment services.
