[Alpha Biz=(Chicago) Reporter Kim Jisun] SK Telecom announced on the 10th that it will introduce a 400Gbps wired network to its 5G backbone for the first time in Korea.

Currently, high-capacity wired networks used in the backbone transmit traffic at 100Gbps, but ultra-high-capacity wired networks introduced by SKT can handle traffic at 400Gbps.

In addition, by introducing a 400Gbps wired network, it plans to reduce the number of wired networks connecting the backbone, increase network management efficiency and establish a system that can respond more quickly to failures and failures.

SKT expects the introduction of this new technology to reduce consumption energy for backbone connection, reduce equipment installation space, and reduce carbon generation due to reduced track construction.
