[Alpha Biz= Paul Lee] Eun Bok-hyun, the head of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), announced that the investigation into the Samboo Construction stock manipulation case will be concluded by April. He also revealed that they are analyzing the potential connection between accounts of First Lady Kim Gun-hee and former Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport Won Hee-ryong.

During his appearance on MBC radio's Kim Jong-bae's Focus, Eun stated, "We aim to complete the Samboo Construction case by April." He explained that the analysis is expanding to include parts of the case not originally covered in the psychological analysis materials provided by the Korea Exchange.

Eun also emphasized that the process will not be rushed, as they are coordinating with the Financial Services Commission (FSC) and the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), and will follow the necessary legal procedures, including coordination with the prosecution.

The case centers around the manipulation of Samboo Construction's stock price, which surged after executives attended a Ukrainian reconstruction forum in Poland in May 2023. The Financial Supervisory Service believes that the major shareholders and management profited from over 10 billion won in market manipulation.

Eun clarified his earlier statement from the National Assembly's National Policy Committee, where he mentioned that Kim and Won were not included in the investigation related to suspicious trading accounts.

He clarified, "This statement was made due to repeated questions regarding the investigation's progress." Eun added that the current focus of the investigation is on linking individuals like Kim and Won to the case, but no evidence has been found suggesting they directly profited or spread false information in relation to the stock manipulation.

The investigation also includes analyzing whether any links exist between individuals like Kim and Won, who were previously associated with the manipulation of Doichi Motors stock, and the Samboo Construction case.
